Summer 2010 was extremely hot in the USA, Canada, Russia, Mongolia, China, Japan, and on the entire European continent. This phenomenon was called the “Russian heat wave”. The hottest period since April to June in continental areas of the Northern Hemisphere resulted in numerous forest fires in China and an extremely severe drought in Yunnan province, which has taken 56,000 lives.
